A silent cry
A silent cry is what comes to my lips today.
When I think of the death of the Delhi gang rape victim
The nightmare scares me and sends a chill to my spine.
Slightest sound around me weakens my knee.
I keep searching for faces that are liable to pin me down
I fear the predators lurking in the dark night ready to torment and assault
Today I have been exposed to my vulnerability
I see myself as an easy prey to wolves hovering around
ready to turn my life into a misery
I sulk with agony and fear
Then suddenly I get up with an inner sound
that wakes me and brings me back to reality
With the confidence and energy that is new found
Today I demand freedom, security and safety in the country
I don't want to see anyone die a vulnerable death
I want women to fight and overcome all odds
and gain back the freedom that we have somehow lost
